Nokia´s VP of multimedia commented the results of a study they carried out through the Future Laboratory, an online platform which collects feedbacks from trendsetters in seventeen countries. He predicts the quick development of a new phenomenon he calls "Circular Entertainment": a process in which end users create the multimedia content, pass to their peers who upgrade and forward to the next guys and so on. This is the idea that trendsetters don´t only create and share but remix and mashup the content. Nokia´s prediction is that 25% of entertainment by 2012 will be created and consumed within peer communities. Interesting in this story is not so much the trend and the figure but the fact that Nokia consolidates its credibility and opinion leadership through a permanent conversation with their advanced consumers by leveraging the online social platforms. An interesting benchmark for other brands. Via Web 2.0 Journal.
